Motorcyclist Killed After SUV Slides On Rain-Slick Road In San Diego
As reported in a 10 News story, an Oceanside motorcyclist was killed in San Diego on March 21st, 2011 on Interstate 805 near Balboa Avenue. The driver of a speeding SUV lost control of his vehicle after sliding on the rain-slick roadway, crossed several lanes of traffic, and ultimately collided with the oncoming motorcycle. The early-morning San Diego motorcycle accident caused significant delays for rush-hour commuters.
The San Diego, California, motorcyclist was thrown 75 feet by the impact, and was pronounced dead at the scene; however, the driver will not be charged, according to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) spokesperson. Although the authorities indicated that speeding under poor weather conditions was the cause or at least a contributing factor to this accident, and even though the investigation has not yet been completed, it appears that once again an innocent biker may have fallen victim to a careless driver.
Yet, if the police won’t hold a speeding motorist accountable for causing a fatal motorcycle accident, who will?
