“Grandma’s new ride”

Motorcycle Injury Attorney: When June sent me her photo it was labeled “Grandma’s new ride” and the first thing that came to my mind is Grandma rolls on an HD Deluxe!!! What an awesome lady.

When did you start riding and what got you involved in motorcycles?   MY FATHER GOT ME INVOLVED IN RIDING AT THE AGE OF 10. FIRST HE BOUGHT ONE FOR ME TO RIDE.   THEN WE PUT ANOTHER ONE TOGETHER FROM THE GROUND UP.  I USED TO RIDE THROUGH THE FIELDS AROUND MY HOUSE.

How has riding motorcycles impacted your life?  RIDING MOTORCYCLES GAVE ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY DAD GROWING UP. THOSE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE CHILDHOOD MEMORIES. INCREDIBLY, MY DAD STILL HAS MY FIRST BIKE.   AS AN ADULT, IT SETS ME APART FROM OTHERS.  BECAUSE OF MY PROFESSION AND MY DEMEANOR, PEOPLE FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT I RIDE.  MY STUDENTS THINK I AM THE COOLEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD.  A YEAR AGO I REMARRIED.  MY HUSBAND HAD NEVER BEEN ON A MOTORCYCLE, BUT WANTED TO RIDE WITH ME.   I URGED HIM TO TAKE THE RIDER’S EDGE COURSE.  WE NOW HAVE ONE MORE THING WE DO TOGETHER.   RECENTLY, WE TOOK A VERY ADVENTUROUS TWO WEEK RIDE AND HAVE MANY MORE PLANNED.

What has been your biggest challenge with riding?  MY BIGGEST CHALLENGE IS IGNORING THOSE WHO CHOOSE TO STEREOTYPE BECAUSE I AM A FEMALE RIDER.

What do you like most about your model motorcycle?  THE THING I LIKE THE MOST ABOUT MY NEW BIKE IS THAT IT IS BALANCED AND COMFORTABLE TO RIDE.

What modifications have you made?  NONE… YET.

When you’re not riding motorcycles what are you other interest?  I ENJOY SPENDING TIME WITH MY HUSBAND, SPOILING MY GRANDCHILDREN, FISHING, GARDENING, AND TRAVEL.

What advice do you have for other women riders? IF YOU ARE A NOVICE RIDER, DO NOT BE INTIMIDATED.   UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES DO RESPECT THE POWER OF EVEN THE SMALLEST OF ENGINES.   TAKE A RIDING COURSE TO GAIN CONFIDENCE IN YOUR ABILITIES.  START WITH A BIKE THAT MATCHES YOUR CAPABILITIES AND WORK YOUR WAY UP TO A BIGGER BIKE ONCE YOU HAVE ACQUIRED MORE EXPERIENCE AND FEEL COMFORTABLE IN DOING SO.   ALWAYS WEAR A HELMET.

What is your weather like year round?  HOT SUMMERS, MILD WINTERS.

How is riding therapy for you?  RIDING IS SOMETHING I LOVE DOING, SO IT BRINGS ME PLEASURE….. KIND OF LIKE AN ENDORPHIN RUSH.    IT ALSO GIVES ME THE OPPORTUNITY TO “DE-STRESS” WHEN I NEED TO GET AWAY FOR A WHILE.

Women like June inspire me and make me smile knowing she is sharing the love of motorcycles, living life to the fullest and upgrading the pavement where ever she rolls.
