Key West, Florida to Homer, Alaska on your motorcycle. Can you do it? Hoka Who? Hoka Hey!!! Think you have what it takes to win $500,000 in Klondike Gold? Hop on your motorcycle on June 20, 2010 and join 999 other riders for the 7000+ mile  motorcycle trip from Key West, Florida to Homer, Alaska!

The Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge is not for those that ride every once in a while. The challenge is simple. Be the person with the shortest time to drive their V-twin air-cooled Harley Davidson motorcycle from Florida to Alaska wins. Sounds easy right? Not so much. Each rider will be equipped with a GPS tracking device that will allow the Challenge officials to closely follow each of the 1,000 riders to make sure they stay on the route that is planned.

There will be 7-8 check points where the bikes will be inspected and odometers clock to make sure there is no cheating! It is suggested that you sleep by your bike to get some energy, and then hop back on the motorcycle as fast as you can to cut down your time. Eating, drinking, showering, bathroom stops, and that of the like are optional.

They are only accepting a grand total of 1000 riders, and there is a $1000 entry fee. A portion of the entry fee goes towards the $500,000 grand prize while the rest goes to charities chosen by the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge staff. Don’t ride? Sponsor a rider who wants to go!

Each rider can ask for sponsors to help cover the entry fee and the cost of travel, ie food, gas, and accommodations along the way. Several Harley Davidson dealerships across the United States have signed up to sponsor this event. It is also going to be filmed and hopefully made into a movie.

After completing this treacherous ride from wet lands to dry lands, desert to mountains, across two countries and 4 time zones, sleeping on the ground, and holding it until you absolutely have to stop to eat and use the restroom, plan on partying on the 4th of July in Alaska! After the challenge, they will trailer your motorcycle back to Sturgis, South Dakota then from there it is up to you to get home, hopefully with an extra $500,000 in your pocket! Meanwhile, I will be in my cozy bed in Los Angeles, California cheering everyone on.  Best of luck to everyone who joins the ride!
