Wheelchair Accessible Motorcycle Available Now

It is finally here! The wheelchair accessible motorcycle has finally arrived in the United States, making its debut at the International Motorcycle Show in Cleveland, OH. As I have mentioned before I believe that motorcycle riding is a sport for all to enjoy. Now, even more people can enjoy this freeing experience.

The wheelchair accessible motorcycle was invented in the UK by a gentleman named Alan Martin who was inspired to build the bike for his son who is disabled. He named the bike the Martin Conquest. The company who manufactures and distributes the motorcycles is Mobility Conquest, owned by Mobility Works, has been dedicated to making wheelchair vehicles of all types for years.

The trike styled motorcycle starts out as a BMW R 1200 and is then transformed into the Martin Conquest. The motorcycle has a remote controlled back door that lowers and lifts as need to enter or exit the vehicle, and has three wheels (two in back, one in front) that allows the bike to stay stable at all times. The wheels on the wheelchair snap into a secure lock on the floorboard while all controls are on the handle bars, including the 6 gear shifter with reverse making it easy to operate. There is also room in the back for a passenger!
