The world renowned Love Ride is the largest one-day motorcycle charity event in the world and has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various children’s charities.

The 1913 Excelsior-Henderson Motorcycle

In 1905, Excelsior crafted its first motorcycle in Chicago, Illinois. It was a single-speed machine that resembled a bicycle that could get speeds from 35 to 40 mph. As the motorcycle culture started to take hold with the adventurous at heart, motorcycles evolved away from the bicycle design and started to become the motorcycles we know today. In 1913 the Excelsior-Henderson Motorcycle was advertised as the only motorcycle with “complete control in the handlebars,” and was sold as a touring bike but it quickly became a record setting long distance and endurance competitor. In 1913, Carl Clancy, on his 1912 Henderson Four, put over 18,000 miles on his motorcycle to become the first biker to ride around the world.

The 1913 Excelsior-Henderson painting is another example of Scott Jacob’s extraordinary talent. The challenge of properly painting motorcycles on canvas hasn’t changed but premiere artist Scott Jacobs has remained true to his passion and continues to use the twelve camel hair brush as his main tool.

Scott Jacobs paintings are a testament to his incredible painting technique.

Scott’s images can be seen on many objects from limited editions graphics to Franklin Mint Collector Plates, coffee mugs, beach towels, clocks and many others. 2010 saw the release of his second book, The Art of Scott Jacobs – The Complete Works. He has captured the likeness of celebrities in commissioned portraits such as business tycoon Malcom Forbes, super models Kim Alexis and Kathy Ireland. On the suggestion of a friend, Scott merged his love of motorcycles with his artistic talent and became the first officially licensed Harley-Davidson artist painting the images that continue to amaze Harley-Davidson enthusiasts worldwide.

This caliber of art work is created by Scott only once or twice a year.

The edition size is strictly limited to 50 examples of giclees on canvas 22´x 32” plus 5 APS and 5 HCS (framing adds approx. 7” each direction).

Sturgis, SD;  The Legendary Buffalo Chip will be holding the First Annual Biker Belles ™ Celebration During the 71st Annual Sturgis Rally.

The passion, diversity and spirit of women in motorcycling will be celebrated during the 71st annual Sturgis Rally.

Wednesday – August 10, 2011 the Biker Belles™ Celebration Ride will begin in the historic town of Deadwood with the Lodge at Deadwood rolling out the red carpet with a special welcome reception complete with events, entertainment and activities catered to women.

Following the red carpet treatment, Meg McDonough from the Motor Maids, and friends will lead the all-women’s ride to the Buffalo Chip for “The Best Party Anywhere®.”

This inaugural event was created to celebrate our role in shaping the motorcycle culture while raising awareness and funds for two great charities, the Abbott House and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame. The Abbott House is a private charity that provides residential treatment services to girls between the age of seven and seventeen and the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame offers a world class experience for visitors to the Sturgis SD area.

As of Saturday am, no major motorcycle reports for Laughlin, Nevada are hitting the news wire. That is good news! Two motorcycle accidents have been reported for motorcyclists in California, however,  involving bikers headed to Laughlin, NV. One I reported on yesterday involving a woman who fell off the back of a motorcycle and in the other, two motorcyclists in Cajon Pass, collided. They were on northbound Interstate 15 near Highway 138. This motorcycle accident forced the closure of three lanes Friday morning. No word yet as to the extent of their injuries but much thanks goes out to the motorcyclists who stopped and gave assistance at the scene of the accident.  Traffic on the northbound I-15 backed up with the high volume of motorcyclists from the San Bernardino and Los Angeles area heading Las Vegas or the Laughlin River Run this weekend.

Be extra careful out there this weekend.
