On May 13, 2007, Texas motorcyclist, Jason Schober, then 28 and father of two, was killed while riding his motorcycle in the early morning hours after colliding with Leslie Parrish’s car in Pasedena, TX. Parrish’s blood alcohol level was .24, three times the legal limit. This past summer, she pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter, and was then subsequently sentenced to six years in prison. After serving 6 months of that time, Judge Roll has agreed with Texas defense attorneys to revise her sentence from six years in prison to ten years probation. This is the first time Roll has granted a “shock” probation request since 2008. Shock probation is splitting the sentence into short time served and remainder (at times additional time) on probation.  The theory is that by putting someone in jail for the first time may "shock" them into not committing other crimes. Shock probation is considered a privilege rather than a right or entitlement.

A big motorcycle accident in Tampa Bay, Florida signals motorcycle season has begun. I just got back to Los Angeles, California from Daytona, Florida.  I was there with BAM, Free Breakdown and Legal Assistance for Motorcyclists and the Motorcycle Accident Lawyers, Brown, Koro & Romag, LLP also known as Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys.  And it was cold!  The season in the Southern States, California, Florida, Texas, etc, were being hit with bad weather.  California it was rain, Texas was hit with snow and Florida was just outright cold for this time of year.  The week after Daytona Bike Week ended, you guessed it, it got hot in the South and even the Northern winter states have been experiencing mild weather.
