Motorcycle Helmets In Florida – A Nuisance Or Common Sense

As reported recently in the Suwannee Democrat, a 49-year-old Madison woman died in the hospital following injuries suffered during a motorcycle accident in Branford, Florida, on May 15th, 2011. The woman’s companion and motorcycle driver, a 53-year-old man from Lee, was released from the same hospital, Shands Gainesville several days earlier.

New York Biker’s Ground Breaking Motorcycle Invention
Dick Briggs of Briggs Made Cycle Parts found a common complaint amongst fellow bikers. When they ride for any length of time, especially when it’s cool, their hips and lower back tend to stiffen up making response time to shifting and breaking slow. It is apparently, a common complaint. Dick realized that having to lift your leg off the footrests to apply the brake was counter productive.
“Why not rock the floorboards, lets make the floorboards rock” A couple of minutes later we had given life to the BRIGGSMADE ROCKER BOARDS™ foot control alternative.

Jasper, Florida Man Killed in Motorcycle Accident in Lake City, Florida
Jasper, FL
John Fry of Jasper, FL died in a motorcycle accident early January 13 in Lake City, Florida. Fry was headed to work when a jeep, driven by Christopher Davis of Lake City, turned in front of the motorcycle. With no time to stop the motorcycle hit the front of the jeep. An investigation is currently pending.

Fatal Motorcycle Accident in FL Claims Two Lives
Two Florida men where killed in a motorcycle accident last week. Lowell Schissel was walking across the street when he was hit by Randell Toombs who was on a motorcycle. Schissel was pronounced dead at the scene. Toombs was taken to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, FL where he died later in the day. Our condolences go out to both families.
