Lincoln Tunnel Motorcycle Accident Injures 52 New Yorkers
An accident involving a motorcycle and two buses in the Lincoln Tunnel resulted in a lengthy traffic jam, stranding some motorists inside the tunnels for as long as four hours, with some lanes closed for up to eight hours. The New York motorcycle accident, which occurred on the morning of February 24th, 2011, seriously injured the motorcyclist and caused a mix of injuries among 51 total passengers riding on the two buses. The crash and its slowdown effects were centered on the Manhattan-bound side of the tunnel, in one of the three tubes leading into Manhattan. New York motorists were said to be frantic until police eventually managed to “back out” much of the bottled-up traffic.
